A well explained budget reflecting the content of the Business Plan is essential when approaching investors. Creating the budget is also an excellent way of testing the internal logic of a businesse plan.

For analyzing the liquidity requirement you will need to create the budget on a monthly basis - As a rule of thumb, a liquidity requirement calculated based on the yearly budget underestimate the monthly liquidity requirement peak many folds for a growth company.

On-line Self Assessment Tool

Find out if a business plan is "complete" before it is send to an investor. The following tool might help in the process. It is a good idea to take the test together with a friend or advisor. Let your friend or advisor read the business plan, take the test and compare the results. You will be surprised, how different two people can assess the completeness of the same business plan.

SAT-Light

SAT-Light is the quick test which challenges the completeness of a business plan through a series of questions of the same type as the ones investors will ask. It does not include financial analysis. The test takes between 10 - 15 minutes and "scoring" and feed back is provided at the end of test.

SAT-Pro

SAT-Pro gives you an expert opinion on the completeness of the business plan. It will illustrate how complete and interesting the investment opportunity looks through the eyes of an investor. The test takes 30 - 50 minutes. Completeness scoring, a full text feedback and a comprehensive financial conclusions are provided after test. Financial sensitivity analysis are also available. Normal price for the SAT-pro test: €25 (payment via credit ard or PayPal).

SAT-Comp

SAT-Comp is a strength and weakness test of the team /author who have created the business plan. It provides insight in how an investor will assess the professional qualification of the person presenting the business plan to him. The test can be taken as part of an "on-line" coaching session.

However, a word of cautious. Do not use on-line "ready to use" tools unless you understand the fundamental theory behind and know how to critical evaluate results. If you are not familiar with financial terms and way of thinking, get someone who knows about financing to assist and help you.
